Facility Electrical and Industrial Applications

TJCAA’s electrical design services build upon its extensive experience in facility and industrial applications, encompassing electrical power distribution, industrial motor control with an emphasis in the application of variable speed drives, lighting and energy efficient control, fire alarms, communications and data communications. TJCAA typically takes a proactive approach in which it supports the entirety of each project’s electrical design needs.

Medium and Low Voltage Distribution

TJCAA’s medium-voltage and low-voltage services include evaluation, design, expansion, site coordination and utility coordination for distribution elements and facilities. These services allow TJCAA to engage on projects that involve concrete-encased duct banks, substations, transformers and other infrastructure systems such as communications, fiber optic cables and other specialized systems.

Modeling, Analysis and Utility Coordination

TJCAA’s analytical and evaluation experience includes the spectrum of electrical analyses, and ranges from performing routine load, wire size and short circuit evaluations to utilizing sophisticated computer modeling tools and analyzing energy life cycle costs. Additionally, TJCAA performs Arc Flash hazard studies, including evaluation and field labeling. TJCAA has extensive expertise working directly with electric power utilities for coordinating new or upgraded services to facilities.

Water/Wastewater Instrumentation & Control System Design

TJCAA provides instrumentation and control design services for water and wastewater facilities. These services include the preparation of piping and instrumentation diagrams, application and selection of suitable instrumentation sensor technologies and wetted material, development of comprehensive equipment and instrument tagging schemes, control system architectures and control component layouts and implementation and execution of control system planning and standards.

Standby and Emergency Power Sources

TJCAA provides design services for standby and emergency power sources for water and wastewater treatment plants and other facilities. TJCAA’s design experience includes generators, alternative utility sources of supply, uninterruptible power supplies, and battery systems, with emphasis on meeting applicable codes. With a particularly high level of experience in standby generators, TJCAA designs cost-effective on-line installations addressing physical constraints, fuel alternatives, regulations and noise ordinances.

Structural Design Services (STRU)

Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants

TJCAA has extensive and varied experience in providing design and seismic analysis for water and wastewater treatment facilities. TJCAA’s understanding of treatment processes allows it to integrate smoothly with plant design teams to maximize functionality and structural fit. TJCAA has applied standard and innovative approaches to address a variety of design challenges for facilities with capacities in excess of 100 million gallons per day.

Reservoirs and Pump Stations

TJCAA’s services for reservoirs and pump stations include design of technically feasible, cost-effective configurations, materials/life cycle analysis, alternatives analysis and seismic evaluation and retrofit design. TJCAA has designed cast-in-place concrete, pre-stressed and welded reservoirs. TJCAA’s reservoir design services are enhanced through its communications with tank manufacturers, which allows it to anticipate and address feasibility and construction issues.

Chemical Storage Facilities

TJCAA’s chemical storage facility services include both structural design and coating system options identification. TJCAA addresses critical chemical storage issues of coating systems, material selection, drainage requirements, equipment anchorage and access requirements through designs and layouts that increase both functionality and safety over the life of the structures. TJCAA’s experience enables it to analyze facility configurations and identify critical issues early in the design process.

Office Buildings and Structures

TJCAA provides structural engineering design for buildings and evaluates the selection of building systems and primary materials including steel, wood, masonry and concrete. TJCAA works with project architects to confirm that the structure is compatible with the architectural scheme and that it supports any special building features.

Condition Assessment, Seismic Evaluation and Mitigation

TJCAA provides assessments of facility condition and performs seismic evaluations and designs for facility mitigation and refurbishment. TJCAA inspects and analyses existing structures, assesses the design-level for earthquakes, evaluates construction materials and methods and determines the appropriate forces applied to structures. Through TJCAA’s experience completing numerous condition assessments and seismic evaluations, TJCAA can identify and address a structure’s unique needs.

Control Systems Programming (CSP)
